This is my interpretation of pop art.

Cupcake

Cupcake is both an organic and non-organic piece. The use of styrofoam and the natural movement of the paint flow represent sprinkles on a cupcake. The background is the whipped creaminess of icing.

Still...Life...

"Still life" is a shadow of my son's hand.  I imaging most people to think of still life as anything that  can be viewed without movement. For me seeing my son's small hand unconsciously at rest brought me joy. I was inspired to catch it.

day or night

This mysterious landscape is a playful twist on realism and fantasy.
"Day or Night" also depicts the battle between light and dark, good and evil.

Controlled by machines

This piece is based on the controversial issue of how the U.S. government controls the people with the use of machines. The idea originates from the use of red-light cameras. As the viewer looks into the front of the lens the individual will see the Eye of Providence. The ideology behind the Eye of Providence is the all seeing eye of God over humankind. My piece translates this with a watchful government. The coloration and American money are straight forward symbols of the country.

"For some, it is part of their path"

This is an experiment with water and smoke on a painted surface.
I traced my first initial, then continued to layer the smoke. To add interest I added a news paper clipping, "for some, it is part of their path". This is an underlining meaning for me attempting to discover my own journey.

Color Theory
The challenge here lies in the placement of color and creating
a designing that works with the correct number of hues.
